Recreation Management

Courses

The Recreation Management Program at Appalachian State University is accredited by the NRPA/AALR Council on Accreditation.

The Recreation Management Program prepares students for careers in experiential education, tourism, camp management, community recreation, commercial recreation, resorts, outdoor leadership, parks, military recreation, golf, etc. Students must complete the 53 semester hour core curriculum, and select an 15 hour concentration in Commercial Recreation and Tourism Management, Outdoor Experiential Education, or Recreation and Park Management, along with meeting core university requirements in order to receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation Management.

An internship is required for the major in recreation management, and a practicum (3 s.h.) is required for the minor in recreation management.

III. Minor Required (12-18 s.h.)

9 s.h. of a minor must be completed at Appalchian/ Business Minors require an overall 2.0. Each mnor differs in number of hours and requirements - see catalog.

IV. Free Electives
