Directed by Dr. David Nieman, the Human Performance laboratory is focused on cardiorespiratory assessments such as max VO2 and resting metabolic rate, and EKG. VO2 determinations can be made on either a treadmill or cycle ergometer, via stationary or portable metabolic analysis systems. Equipment includes:
- Three Medgraphics CPX™ metabolic systems
- Cosmed Quark™ breath-by-breath analyzer
- Cosmed Quark™ pulmonary function tester
- Applied Electrochemistry™ O2 and CO2 analyzers
- Lode™ cycle ergometer
- Three Compu-Trainer™ cycle workload units
- Life Fitness™, Trackmaster™, and Quinton™ treadmills (5 total)
- Quinton™ EKG unit
